According to a recent report from Sport, Barcelona are ‘desperate’ to sell Philippe Coutinho during the January transfer window.
The reason is simple – they want to avoid another €20 million payment that they would subsequently owe to Liverpool.
It also seems as if Coutinho isn’t really settling into life back at the Nou Camp under Ronald Koeman, and while the same could be said for many Barca players, it appears to be particularly true for the Brazilian.
The big question from there would be where will he go next? You’d have to imagine there are plenty of clubs across world football that would consider an investment with regards to Coutinho, but Barca would probably require quite a high bid. Liverpool almost certainly wouldn’t contemplate it but there are definitely a few teams out there who would be willing to stump up the cash, so long as they were confident Coutinho could produce the goods.
