That’s all from this one. Thanks for joining us and, until next time, goodbye!

Milan’s busy start to the season takes them to Rio Ave in a Europa League play-off on Thursday. Crotone go to Sassuolo on Saturday in pursuit of their first points back in the top flight.

Milan ease to another win! Goals either side of half-time through Kessie, from the penalty spot, and debutant Diaz get the job done. Crotone never really looked capable of recovering after going behind, and the only dampener for the Rossoneri was an apparently serious arm injury to Rebic.

90′ + 4′ FULL-TIME: Crotone 0-2 Milan

90′ + 3′ Rafael Leao clatters into Messias and collects a late booking, although the free-kick comes to nothing.

90′ + 1′ Colombo finds a second wind and races down the left but, from a tight angle, rifles over the top.

90′ + 1′ There will be a minimum of four minutes of added time.

90′ A fairly foolish, tired challenge from Colombo gives Crotone the chance to put a free-kick in the box. They choose the short option and Messias’ cross is defended well.

88′ Milan are patient in their build-up following a corner and, with no way through Crotone, take the sensible option and push the ball back towards Donnarumma.

87′ CROSSBAR! Krunic almost has an instant impact after a wonderful Rafael Leao run! The two substitutes are both involved, with the striker wriggling free and seeing a low shot blocked, the ball running to Krunic, who curls against the crossbar from 25 yards. The goalkeeper gets a vital touch.

86′ This game looks to be heading towards a fairly predictable conclusion. Crotone lack the imagination to break Milan down, it seems.

83′ Diaz, the scorer of Milan’s second, is also going to depart, as Krunic enters the field.

Rafael Leão

H. Çalhanoğlu

83′ Milan make a change, too, with Calhanoglu off for Rafael Leao.

83′ Molina has been bright for Crotona but makes way for Rispoli.

81′ The corner after Kjaer’s header is so poor, straight into the side-netting. Crotone are running out of time.

81′ CLOSE! Kjaer is not happy, but he almost puts through his own net! Molina gets in behind Hernandez and crosses, with Simy in the centre. The striker raises his boot as Kjaer heads behind. Both the defender and Donnarumma want a foul, but it is not given and that is so close to finding the top corner.

80′ Hernandez is back on his feet and cleared to continue for Milan.

79′ SCRAMBLE! Messias delivers a fierce free-kick, which Donnarumma fails to effectively field, pushing the ball back out. Simy cannot prod goalwards, though, and then Hernandez wins a free-kick as he heads clear. The left-back stays down and requires treatment.

T. Hernández

Yellow Card

78′ Messias has come to life. An energetic burst down the right is followed by a chop inside that deservedly buys a free-kick and a yellow card from Hernandez.

76′ Now Messias fails to control when he might have a chance to turn and shoot in the area! Milan might have to guard against complacency, with Crotone profiting on a couple of loose touches.

75′ So poor from Reca. This is not the introduction he would have hoped for. Messias does well to work the ball out to the substitute on the left, but his cross does not even reach the near post, sliced behind.

72′ Pedro Pereira has been an outlet for Crotone on the right, but his final ball has let him down. Reca is on.

72′ Substitution Denis Mihai Drăguş Miloš Vulić

71′ Colombo has not had a sight of goal yet but is working hard in attack, running the line alone. He wins a throw-in from a tussle with two home defenders.

70′ Milan are starting to push Crotone back the other way. The hosts must respond and score soon if they are to make a game of this.

68′ Easy pickings for Donnarumma as he comes for another right-wing cross and claims confidently. Crotone’s threat is waning.

67′ Diaz wins a free-kick 30 yards from goal in a central position. Calhanoglu goes for the cross, yet the ball runs behind for a goal-kick.

65′ Crotone have had 62 per cent of the ball since half-time but have not seriously troubled Donnarumma.

63′ Tonali has had a very assured debut, but it comes to an end with Bennacer’s introduction.

Samu Castillejo

A. Saelemaekers

63′ Milan make a double change. Saelemaekers has been their most threatening attacker but makes way for Castillejo.

63′ Gabbia goes into the book. Second to a challenge with Messias, he chops the Crotone man down.

62′ Crotone’s corner is into a dangerous area but passes through the box and Kessie muscles off an opponent to take control of possession.

61′ Great tackle from Kjaer! He has been imperious at the back and times a tackle to perfection as Molina bears down on goal from the left side of the area.

60′ Milan stand firm to defend a deep Crotone free-kick, Kjaer heading clear. The hosts have been well on top since the second goal, but it may be too little too late.

59′ OVER! Messias makes a mess of this! Pedro Pereira nods the ball down into the Milan box, but Messias shoots with his left when the ball is on his right and hacks over the top.

58′ Colombo is the man who replaces Rebic.

56′ Oh dear, oh dear. Rebic is tripped off the ball and immediately heads for the sidelines, indicating a clearly injured arm. He is going to have to be substituted. The forward heads down the tunnel. Pioli is not happy at all with the incident.

55′ Tonali seizes on a loose ball in the centre of the pitch and races forward. He eventually looks left to Calhanoglu but just mistimes the pass.

54′ Crotone are certainly still trying to wrestle back this result. Pedro Pereira sends over a poor cross from the right to let Milan off the hook this time.

53′ CHANCE! Dragus flicks over! Crotone should be back in this all of a sudden! Molina crosses, Messias nods the ball on and Dragus is unmarked inside the six-yard box. He waves a leg at the ball and misses the target. The offside flag might go up if he hits the net but this is a huge chance.

51′ Milan are in complete control now. Crotone need something special if they are to avoid a second straight defeat.

50′ GOOAAALLLL!!! DIAZ! On debut! 2-0 Milan! The Rossoneri twice build smart moves down the right and Saelemaekers cuts the ball back to Calhanoglu. Cigarini lunges in to divert the ball away from the Milan number 10 but succeeds only in teeing up Diaz to score on the turn.

47′ Simy will hope to be more involved in the second half. He runs onto a gorgeous Cigarini pass but is clearly offside.

46′ A shaky start to the second half for Milan! Pedro Pereira, who started the first half well, sends over a cross and Donnarumma has to come from his line to punch.

46′ KICK-OFF: Crotone get us back under way!

Eduardo Henrique

N. Zanellato

46′ Crotone make a half-time change, with Eduardo Henrique replacing Zanellato.

Milan have now scored in 22 consecutive league games, last doing so in March 2009.

Crotone frustrated Milan for much of the first half, with Cordaz making good stops on the rare occasions the visitors got through. But Hernandez’s defence-splitting pass from deep had the home defence back-pedalling and Marrone brought down Rebic in the area. Kessie dispatched the penalty and Milan lead at the break!

45′ + 4′ HALF-TIME: Crotone 0-1 Milan

45′ + 3′ A minimum of one minute of added time was signalled, but the penalty award delayed the play by a further two minutes.

45′ + 2′ GOOAAALLLL!!! KESSIE! Cool as you like, the midfielder sends Cordaz the wrong way from the spot! 1-0 Milan on the stroke of half-time!

45′ + 2′ As the penalty award stands, Marrone is booked for bringing down Rebic.

45′ + 2′ Referee Luca Pairetto is all smiles as he waits on the VAR decision. The penalty award stands!

45′ PENALTY! Milan have a huge chance to take the lead! Rebic goes down under Marrone’s challenge after a wonderful Hernandez pass. The Crotone players believe Rebic controls with his arm first…

44′ Crotone work the ball really well on the left side of the penalty area, forcing Milan to defend, but then Zanellato blazes a cross behind for a goal-kick. That is a waste.

43′ Calhanoglu delivers a teasing cross and Gabbia is up, but his header lacks venom and direction and drops wide.

42′ Saelemaekers wins a free-kick 35 yards from goal on the right, giving Milan an opportunity to push men into the box late in the first half.

41′ Crotone have slowed Milan effectively in recent minutes, pressing the visitors back the other way.

39′ Simy has been starved of service and Donnarumma does really well to come from his line to claim a high cross in front of the forward on this occasion.

37′ Milan’s crosses are being dealt with, so they look for an alternative route to goal. A pass in behind attempts to free Rebic, only for Cordaz to advance and claim the ball bravely.

36′ Saelemaekers has been Milan’s brightest performer so far. He brilliantly finds Hernandez on the left, but the cross is headed up and away by Golemic. Calhanoglu then looks to centre but the ball drifts behind.

35′ A lovely Saelemaekers turn on the right creates space inside the area for a cross and allows team-mates to gather in the centre, but Cigarini heads away.

34′ A rare Crotone foray sees Dragus advance into the area on the left, but he cannot tempt Calabria into a challenge and eventually runs the ball out of play.

32′ Disappointing from Calhanoglu. He fires a poor free-kick into the wall and then slices the rebound over the crossbar.

31′ Tonali’s range and speed of passing is going to be a key route via which to attack for Milan this season. He teases a pass through to Diaz and wins a free-kick 30 yards from goal, in prime Calhanoglu position.

29′ The wind at Stadio Ezio Scida is proving problematic. Crotone caught Hernandez out with a pass left to right going one way earlier on, but Kessie’s attempt now to do the same going in the opposite direction sees the ball hold up in the air.

27′ Hernandez strips the ball away from Cigarini on the left and darts infield. Milan have men racing forward and he looks for Rebic, but a poor first touch allows Molina to make a tackle and win a foul.

26′ Crotone have just dropped back deeper towards their own box. Simy wins a vital foul to relieve some pressure as Milan push forward.

24′ Saelemaekers retrieves an overhit Hernandez cross and looks to go past Molina but goes down inside the area. There is no clear penalty appeal, though, and the winger gets back up and commits a foul.

22′ Kessie muscles back the ball in the Crotone half and feeds Saelemaekers, who in turn finds Rebic and then Calhanoglu. A pass through to Diaz presents a shooting opportunity, but the new man shoots tamely against a defender.

20′ Crotone’s counter attack has been more effective than Milan’s so far. They are attacking at speed and Messias cuts inside from the right and fires over.

20′ CROSSBAR! Kjaer almost gets the opener! Calhanoglu is delivering some wonderful set-pieces and the latest is into the path of Kjaer, who nods downwards, the ball bouncing up, against the frame of the goal and away.

19′ Another Milan corner as Saelemaekers thrashes a cross against a defender.

19′ Crotone are doing well to get men back in numbers when Milan come forward, despite also having options going the other way. It will be key the hosts maintain that energy throughout the match.

17′ Milan are starting to turn the screw. Donnarumma gets up to claim a cross and sets the visitors away on the attack again. Hernandez cannot find a team-mate on the left, though.

16′ This is an easier stop for Cordaz. Tonali finds Calhanoglu, who will never pass up an opportunity to let fly but shoots low and straight at the goalkeeper.

16′ Milan are unbeaten in their four Serie A matches against Crotone (W3 D1).

15′ Rebic cannot get on the end of the Milan corner and then Diaz concedes a foul on the edge of the box, allowing Crotone to regroup.

14′ SAVE! Cordaz saves again! Calhanoglu’s cross on the right is blocked so he goes back inside, with Saelemaekers teeing up Tonali. The new man shapes to shoot but instead tees up Diaz, whose low effort is parried well by the goalkeeper.

13′ The ball is caught up in a midfield battle at the moment, but Crotone are holding their own so far.

11′ Good work from Tonali! Pedro Pereira crosses from the right and Zanellato is advancing towards the ball but fouls Tonali, who gets across his path.

10′ Simy’s poor pass allows Milan to break, but the ball appears to get caught up in a slightly sticky pitch and Rebic loses possession.

9′ Almost a Milan chance from the corner. Kjaer gets up to meet the cross with a header and flicks on to Diaz, who swipes at the ball and sends it across goal instead of towards the target.

8′ SAVE! Cordaz denies Calhanoglu! This effort does count and the goalkeeper has to get down low to his right to turn a powerful shot around the post. Calhanoglu loves to shoot from outside the box.

6′ WOW! Calhanoglu fouls Cigarini in the middle of the pitch, and the felled man lifts himself to his feet and sensationally lobs Donnarumma from 50 yards! The whistle is blown with the ball in mid-air, though. The ball is rolling when Cigarini takes the quick free-kick, according to the referee.

5′ Crotone are working the ball really well early on and again look for Pedro Pereira. Gabbia is forced to head a cross clear. Hernandez is great getting forward but might have a battle going the other way.

4′ A really good ball from left to right gets Pedro Pereira in behind Hernandez, but Tonali tracks back to help win the ball back for Milan.

3′ Crotone make light work of the right-wing corner, clearing over halfway. Milan settle into another spell of possession.

2′ Milan come forward and Calabria’s cross from the right is turned behind for a first corner.

1′ Zanellato does well to win possession within seconds and set up an attack, but Messias blasts well wide from distance.

1′ KICK-OFF: Milan, in their change white kit, get us up and running!

Let’s get the team news…

Today Milan face Crotone, whose first game back in Serie A did not go exactly to plan. They lost 4-1 at Genoa last week, conceding twice in the first nine minutes. A return to Stadio Ezio Scida, where they were so impressive in their promotion campaign, will be welcomed.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is missing for the Rossoneri due to contracting coronavirus, but Stefano Pioli’s side have continued their impressive form from the end of last season. The new campaign has begun with wins over Shamrock Rovers, Bologna and Bodo/Glimt.
