The Packers visit the Saints for Week 3 Sunday Night Football. It’ll be a battle of two future Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. Even without Michael Thomas and likely Davante Adams, it’s a star-studded matchup with plenty of potentially viable picks for a DraftKings Showdown lineup.
Our biggest fade here is Drew Brees and the supposed high-end of the New Orleans passing attack (Emmanuel Sanders, Jared Cook and Tre’Quan Smith). Nothing we saw from them in Week 2 makes us that concerned about missing out on those guys, though. We’re embracing the two running games and some big-play possibilities instead. (Also, because I always use Taysom Hill in Saints Showdowns and didn’t this week, he’s bound to go off.)

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Saints vs. Packers
Captain (1.5x price, 1.5x points): RB Alvin Kamara, Saints ($17,700)
While it’s not impossible to play both Kamara and Aaron Jones in this game, they’re the two highest-priced players and we sort of have to commit to one of them as our favorite. It’s going to be Kamara for us, facing off with a Green Bay defense that’s allowed about six DK points per game more than New Orleans has to running backs. Kamara’s PPR ability makes him extra appealing, too, and he’s shown a nose for the end zone so far this season.
MORE SNF: Is Davante Adams playing?
FLEX: RB Aaron Jones, Packers ($11,400)
When we initially picked Kamara for the captain slot, we had this spot ticketed for Drew Brees. But upon some bottom-half lineup shifting, it made sense to use Jones here. He’ll receive a heavy workload that might increase with Adams likely out, and he’s coming off a monster game, which in this case doesn’t mean immediately fade him but rather that his big 2019 has carried over to ’20.
FLEX: QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers ($11,000)
Rodgers will likely be without his top wideout, Davante Adams (hamstring), but he’s still Aaron Rodgers. The Saints have allowed the 11th-most DK points to QBs this season, which makes sense because the talent in their secondary doesn’t match the talent of their defensive front. Rodgers has shown a strong enough relationship with Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard for us to feel good about him here, anyway.
FLEX: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers ($6,800)
Picking MVS this week could mean he finally comes back to earth, but he’s been a huge threat going deep in the early going, showing a more consistent connection with Rodgers than we’ve seen in the past. If there’s a long TD, it’s important to have it in your Showdown lineup, and MVS has the best long-TD chance in this game.
FLEX: WR Deonte Harris, Saints ($1,600)
We used Harris last week in our Saints Showdown with Michael Thomas out, and he saw five targets and rushed once. His price hasn’t changed, though. That means we’ll use him again as an explosive, sometimes-gadget player who’s seeing more consistent work with the star out.
FLEX: RB Tyler Ervin, Packers ($1,200)
Ervin is Green Bay’s answer to Harris, and despite being listed as a RB, he’ll see most of his work as a WR as long as Adams misses this game. Ervin’s snaps doubled in Week 2 from Week 1 thanks to Adams missing some of the game, which means they should see another increase with no Adams at all. Ervin, like Harris, provides a low-risk, high-reward play as an explosive player guaranteed gadget touches who also returns kicks and punts.
